The short version
Miyajima Tides is a static information site. We don't ask you to register, we don't run a newsletter, and we don't collect names, addresses or payment details. The only personal data that reaches us directly is what you choose to put in an email.
What happens automatically
Server logs
Our web host records standard access logs — IP address, browser and operating system, the page requested, and the time. These are used to keep the site running and secure, and are not used to identify individual visitors.
Analytics
We may use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful and where visitors struggle. It sets cookies and processes usage data, including a truncated IP address, on Google's infrastructure. It tells us how many people read a page — not who they are.
Advertising
We may display advertising through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.

Affiliate links
Some outbound links to accommodation and activity providers are affiliate links. If you follow one, the destination site may set a cookie recording that you arrived from here, so that any resulting booking is attributed to us. We may earn a commission; you pay no more than you otherwise would. We do not receive your booking details, payment information or personal data from those providers — only aggregate reporting of whether a booking occurred.
Once you leave this site, the destination's own privacy policy applies. We have no control over how those companies handle your data.
If you email us, we keep the message and your address for as long as needed to deal with it. We don't add you to any list and we don't share it.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. Any cookies present come from the third-party services described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the tide data and all pages will continue to work normally without them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — including under the EU/UK GDPR and Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information — you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, and to object to certain processing. Because we hold almost nothing, this usually amounts to email correspondence. Write to us and we'll act on it.
Children
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
